Vision

"Where there is no vision, the people perish."

– Proverbs 29:18

As we continue this new year, building on the themes of New, First Fruits, and Relationships, I want to turn our attention to something that gives direction and meaning to everything else — vision. Vision gives us the ability to plan the future with imagination, creativity, and wisdom. Vision is a God-given ability to see a preferred future with clarity, faith, and wisdom. It fuels passion, brings focus, and often determines whether we are truly flourishing or merely surviving. Without vision, even good people with good intentions can slowly drift through life without ever stepping into the fullness God intended.

We celebrated the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. this past Monday. Reflecting on his life and legacy, it is remarkable to recognize the impact he had on our nation and around the world. This all started with a God Vision/Dream. We are all familiar with Dr. King’s "I Have a Dream" speech, which clearly articulated his vision. This is the power of a God-inspired vision!!!

Here are some ways we can experience the “New” in Christ in this New Year:

  • Vision Is Rooted in God’s Purpose for Our Lives: If you are alive and breathing, you have a God-given purpose. Scripture reminds us that “we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10). Vision often flows out of where our God's purpose and mission intersect. When we surrender our lives to Christ and allow Him to shape our true identity, direction, and priorities. God’s vision for our lives is not accidental; it is intentional, personal, and deeply meaningful. It is necessary for living the abundant life.

  • God-Inspired Vision Moves Us from Surviving to Thriving: Vision is often the difference between simply getting by and living with hope, direction, and expectancy. God assures us, “For I know the plans I have for you… plans to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11). The enemy works tirelessly to distract us from God’s vision through busyness, comparison, and conformity to the world. But Jesus reminds us that He came so that we may have life to the full (John 10:10). When we live with God’s vision, we begin to experience the abundant life He promised.

  • Vision Grows Through Abiding, Discernment, and Faith: Godly vision is developed intentionally. It grows as we seek the Lord, abide in Christ, reflect on our God-given gifts and passions, study His Word, and listen for His voice. Vision often becomes clearer as we step out in faith — even when it feels uncomfortable or uncertain. God typically gives us revelation, little glimpses of the future, as we grow closer to Him; as we stay connected to the vine of Christ, this revelation turns into Kingdom vision. This is powerful because it is anointed with divine purpose. As Jesus said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26). God’s vision always requires faith, dependence, and trust.

For those of us called to lead — in business, ministry, and family — vision is most powerful when it is integrated across all areas of our lives. Our personal purpose and God-given vision should inform and shape the organizational and business vision we steward. When our personal walk with God is aligned with the mission we lead, our leadership gains clarity, authenticity, and eternal impact. Vision rooted in Christ doesn’t just build successful organizations — it builds a lasting Kingdom legacy.

Challenge Question: Am I intentionally seeking God for a clear and fresh vision for myself, my family, and for the business/organization I lead? Ismypersonal purpose aligned with the vision I am leading in my organization or business?

Prayer: Lord, thank You for being a God of purpose and vision. As we begin this new year, give us fresh clarity and direction. Help us align our personal calling with the work You’ve entrusted to us, and lead with faith, courage, and humility. May our vision be shaped by Your Word, fueled by Your Spirit, and used for Your glory. Amen.

I pray the Lord fills you with God's purposed Vision in all areas of your life and leadership in 2026!
