Sowing and Reaping

"Do not be decieved: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap."

– Galatians 6:7-8

As leaders, we think in terms of return on investment. We evaluate decisions based on outcomes. But long before Wall Street or private equity, God established a far more powerful law: the principle of sowing and reaping.

Everything in our lives — spiritually, relationally, physically, financially — operates under this principle. We are always sowing something. The only question is: What kind of harvest are we sowing toward? In this season of my life, I am seeing fruit from seeds planted decades ago — in my walk with Christ, in my marriage/family, in business, and in ministry. It reinforces a truth I now know deeply: God multiplies faithful sowing over time.

As leaders, this principle applies to how we lead, invest, speak, build culture, disciple, and steward our influence.

Key Principles of Sowing & Reaping:

  • Like Produces Like: You cannot reap what you did not sow. We reproduce who we are. If we sow seeds of pride, impatience, or selfish ambition, those seeds will surface. If we sow humility, generosity, discipline, and faith, we will reap the same. This is why abiding precedes impact. You cannot share what you do not possess. If we are Christ-centered, we will possess and sow the character of Christ and bear the fruit of His Spirit. “I am the vine; you are the branches… If you remain in me, you will bear much fruit.John 15:5

  • We greatly influence the Sowing — God controls the Outcome: our job is not to make it happen. Our job is to keep sowing faithfully. There are seasons when you sow and see nothing. But harvest operates on God’s timetable, not ours. As leaders, we need to sow love into our marriage and families, invest in others, especially our team, steward our companies with integrity, and sow into the Kingdom by serving, giving, and discipling others. Faithfulness in the sowing produces fruit in due season. Sowing faithfully is evidence that we trust God as our provider. “Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”Galatians 6:9

  • Kingdom Sowing Produces Eternal Return: Not all sowing carries eternal weight. Integrated living changes everything. We don’t separate “business” from “ministry.” Whether a customer, employee, vendor, or neighbor, every conversation, hire, and strategic decision is an opportunity to sow Kingdom seed. We can sow seeds of life/faith by serving all with excellence, while also building personal relationships that allow us to share our faith in Jesus. The greatest harvest is not temporary ROI. It is Kingdom EROI — Eternal Return on Investment. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.Colossians 3:23

We have the opportunity every day to sow the love of Jesus through our leadership, generosity, and servanthood. Over time, these seeds will compound and create an inevitable harvest. The only variable is what seeds we will sow each day. I can assure you that God will “Do immeasurably more than you can ever ask or imagine by His power at work in you” Ephesians 3:20 if you sow seeds of His spirit into those around you daily.

Challenge Question: What Kingdom seeds am I intentionally sowing daily — and what harvest will they produce five, ten, or twenty years from now?

Prayer: Father, thank You for establishing the principle of sowing and reaping. Help us sow to the Spirit and not to the flesh. Give us endurance to keep planting good seed, trusting You with the harvest. May our leadership produce fruit that lasts for eternity. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Let us continue to sow generously, so we can reap an amazing harvest in Christ in due time!!!!!!!
